An important milestone: On February 3, 2026, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony for another child protection center in Essen. A powerful statement—because the need is greater than ever.
For 17 years, the freddy fischer foundation has been funding urgently needed occupational and speech therapy, as well as psychological care, at Spatzennest Essen for children who have been through terrible experiences. These children are often traumatized by mistreatment, abuse, or extreme neglect. They struggle with anxiety, developmental delays, and insecurities. Without targeted help, they risk falling behind—in school and in life.
This work changes lives.
Little R. (3) arrived at Spatzennest in a state of neglect. He barely spoke, harmed himself, and couldn’t concentrate. Through intensive therapy, he learned to communicate, became calmer, and gained stability. His journey isn’t over yet—but his future looks different today.
Every day counts. Every bit of help does, too.
Over 400 inquiries per year show how urgently more spots are needed. A third facility is planned—but we need your support to make it happen.
Help us give children a future.
